DEATH OF THE BREEDER OF GALLINULE. Loudon. Eng.. April 10. — The death is announced of John C. Hill of Willoughton. Lincolnshire. Al thomrli Mr Hills colors were not very well known, he leaves an indelible record on the history of the turf, for he bred Gallinule. one of the most successful sires of modern times, as well as Pioneer, tin-sire of Polar Star. Both were from his own mure. Moorhen, with which he won many hunt races hack in the eighties. Another colt of his breeding wis Kuclid. which won the Jubilee Stakes in IMS and the Lincolnshire Handicap in UH. St. Victrix. a constant winner, was also bred by him and sold at the Doncaster sales. Mr. Hill, who was seventv four years old. was at Lincoln races. His death was entirely unexpecti-d.
