SANTA ANITA PARK RACING STATISTICS. During the 188888 winter meeting of the Los Aug. les Raring Association at Santa Anita Park. which opened on Novonilicr 20. and came to a close last Saturday, embracing 122 days of racing, a total of 7.7 racca were decided. The large sum of 379.786 was distributed in stakes and purses, and 21s owners shared iu the distribution, seventy-six of then winning ,000 or more each. S. C. Hihlreth. with King James. Joe Madden. Resti-gouehe and other high-class horses, won 830. SI 5 and stands at the bead of the list of winning owners. It. L. Thomas is second in the list, his horses having gathered a total of 9,488; The stable of P. T. li in n. which is trained b himself, is a close third with 8,206. while fourth place falls to Rarnev Sehreiber. the Missouri turfman, with 117.800 to Ids credit. R. I". Vinceiil Powers, the star rider of 19HX. is at tin- head of the list with a margin of eight over C. II. Shilling, his closest competitor and leader in the matter of percentage, and who pmb ably would have been the leader in the number of winning mounts had he not drawn a suspension on March i for rough riding in the Los Angeles Derby. which kept him on tne ground for twenty-three days before he was restored to Read standing. Third in the list is that promising boy. M. McC.ee, with seventy-one winners and a percentage of .15. This Is McGees second year in the saddle, having had his first mount at City Park January 23. 190X. and his first winner on Lady Ethel at the Fair Crounds lehinary 13, the same year. A 1 Mahoney, J 2 Fast time over the exceptionally fast Santn Anita track is of everyday occurrence, and the records for tlie different distances are in constant danger of being broken. Since the first of t"ho year six new marks were made and four equaled. A. J. Small. P. T. Cbinns speedv colt, which later met with an untimely death, established a new inaik for three and one half furlongs, running the distance in 40 with 109 pounds up. On March 13 lK nau humr up a record of 881 for a half mile, and on April 15 Polls lowered the time for four and one-half furlongs bv running the distance in 53. The records for the three-quarters mile, seven eighths mile, one mile and one ami one-eighth miles distances, which are now remarkably fast, withstood all onslaughts and still remain the same.
