FINAL ACTION TAKEN AT TORONTO. York Riding and Driving Club Has No Recourse from Governmental Revocation of Its Charter. Toronto. Ont.. June 17. — The order in council canceling the charter of the York Riding and Driving Club was signed this afternoon by the lieutenant-governor, ami formal notification was sent to P. ¥1. Callcn. a clerk at the Palmer House, who appears on the card as president of the club. This action puts an end to the existence of the club, except for the purpose of winding it up. and it has no recourse. There was racing at Dufferln Park todav. as the notice hail not been served. There is talk of an attempt to race two tlavs a week under the auspices of the Toronto and Dufferin Driving clubs, two organizations that hold harness matinees, but it is not the intention of the government to permit any evasion of its purpose, and it may be taken as settled that the outlaw racing here is at an end. with considerable loss to the promoters and the horsemen who participated. Racing is too strongly entrenched in public favor in Canada to be ruined by undertakings of this kind and the sport will continue to Bearish here under wise and judicious management. _______
