King Cobalt, off forwardly. followed the early pacemaker closely, fought it out gamely with Red River in the stretch and outstayed the latter in the final drive. Red River set a fast pace, but tired in the last six-t,.nth and the winner headed him in the last few strides. Parkulght was easily best of the others, but outclassed by the first two. Minot broke slowly, but gradually improved his position and outstayed Brown Tony in the final drive. The latter was a close contender for the first half, then tir.-d. De« tective was well ridden, was not hurried in the early running, but was dropped in liehlnd the fast going early pacemaker until they had gone seven furlongs, then wore the leader down in the stretch and out« stayed him at the end. Piute was ridden with poor Judgment, set an exhausting early pace and but for being made entirely too much use of would have won. Siskin wore the tiring horses down in the last quarter and finished gamely. Jack Parker apiteared very dry when going to the post and evidently was not at himself. Smoker was a closa contender all the way, but tired in the final drive. Sir Edward came through on the inside on the far turn and finished fast and gamely. Consistent was shuffled back after they had gone a quarter. Duke of Milan was lame behind when going to the post. Plaudmore broke slowly and made up ground. Paul Kuinart and Patriot ran well. Kinir of Mist showed much the most early speed, but faltered when the winner caught him. Hoyle began slowly, but gained steadily and worked his way up on the inside into a distant third. Great Jubilee closed a big gap. Elfall and Hooray tired in the stretch. Holloway and Grenesque showed speed. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Overweights — Hoyle. 4 pounds. The latter met with stiff interference on the first turn, where he was crowded back, then closed a big gap and finished with a rush. Stromeland was speedy, but tired in the stretch.
