The Slaryland Jockey Club only has authority over Its own affairs and races on dates allotted to it by the Jockey Club, which has its headquarters in New York and governs racing in the eastern states. If a horse is named in a parlay that is not in the race selected, a bookmaker should not change the name without the knowledge and consent of the bettor, thus leaving the responsibility for the mistake where it belongs. It follows that the parlay would be void as to that race. J. J. SIcK., Toronto. Ont. There are several ruling turf bodies in the United States. The Jockey Club rules in the eastern states, the Western Joekey Club and American Turf Association in the central west and south, and the Pacific Jockey Club in the states of the Pacific coast. Texas has a ruling body of its own and so has Kentucky.
