MD0WELLS SPORTSMANLIKE ATTITUDE. Saratoga. N. Y.. August 4. Thomas C. -McDowell did not intend to start Kings Daughter in the Saratoga Handicap when lie brought the Ornament mare here from Sheepsheart Bay.- He accordingly consented to James Rowes proposition that E. Martiii. n lad who rode for him at Vonkors. should ride .vmietion. He did not make up his mind to send Kings Daughter along until he found that most of the good horses -would remain in the stable. -When E. Martin, on Affliction, defeated Ids mare. Mr. McDowell cheerfully and gracefully said: "Well. 1 am glad IMartin won." K. Martin is attached to J. B. Itcspess stable. Mr. McDowell managed the lad at Yonkers because Mr. Respess did not go there to nice.
