Protend drew out like a Hash and, setting the pace under a pull, came away when called on and won ofT finally easing up. Madeline L.. away poorly and repeatedly interfered with, closed an immsnee gap in the last quarter and is a stayer. Pulka ran in forward pursuit early and was prominent to the sixteenth post, then tired. Zephyr was well up throughout. Evening Song had scant chance with her bad rider. St. Ilnnstan, crowded out at the start and lepeatedly pulling up, closed a gap in the middle running, but quit finally and ran a bad race. Moltke showed superior speed, was palpably short, but ran in a contending position to the stretch. Amyl showed early speed. The winner, entered for ,200, was hid up to ,000 and bought bv S. F. Hyman. Moquette drew out in the first stride and won all the way unextended. Pins and Needles ran in inside forward pursuit throughout, was crowded on the last turn, lint came away from Arcite witli a rush in the stretch into a fast going second. High Range shows steady improvement, made the running well in hand for seveii furlongs before Iteing headed and held on well in the closing drive. Quantico ran forwardly anil persistently throughout. Honiecrest was also unexpectedly well up from the start, hut tired in the closing drive. Sententious ran well up for six furlongs, but failed to stay. The winner was entered for ,000: ni hid. Avas then bumped repeatedly and carried out and ImiKMled in a long closing drive ami just failed to get up. Sir John Johnson, from a flying start, set a terrific pace, turned AVide into the stretch and finished boring out all through the last furlong and Avas disqualified for fouling. Apache ran in forward and persistent pursuit throughout, was nearly thrown from a collision with Jack Atkin and Sir John Johnson at the head of the st retell, or lie Avonld have been closer up and ran a grand race. Prince Ahmed, from an inside slow start, Avas shuffled to the rear in the early l nulling and, closing an immense gap. finished fastest of all. Berrv Maid, a prominent contender for live furlongs, tired and Avas palpably short, but is in grand condition. Dorante. a slow lieglnner and a hojieless trailer to the stretch, finished like a shot. Fort John-sou showed earlv speed. Do Mund, pulled up in the first quarter and nearly left, showed dazzling early specd. but retired at the end of ilve furlongs and aa;is short.
