SALE OF BARLEYTHORPE CONFIRMED. Saratoga. X. Y.. August 18. The sale of Barley-thorpe to J. F. Gaffney for 2,000 was confirmed to-dav. The colt worked a half-mile trial over the slow and sandy Horse Haven course in :51i and was subsequently examined and pronounced sound by Dr. H. W. McCalley. It is said that II. M. Ziegler reserved for himself a further contingent interest to tlie extent of .W.COO in Barlcythorpes possible Futurity winnings. It transpired today that T. .T. Henley, trainer for R. T. Wilson. Jr., had an option on Barleythorpe bo-fore lils first start at 0,000. When Mr. Wilson unexpectedly acquired Oiambala the Barleythorpe deal fell through.
