NOTES OF THE TURF. Mellowmint; just purchased by Thomas Hitchcock, Jr.. will be pointed for the Harbor Hill Steeplechase. The new track at Vancouver, B; C, will be known as Minoru Park. Seventy horses have arrived there from Butte for Saturdays opening. W. G. Yanke, the California operator, is re-IKirted to have won ,000 on Glennadeane, which tilly was mysteriously backed at Saratoga Tuesday. The amateur riders will request the Coney Islanil Jockey Club to put a selling stake on its fall program, to be run on September 1. at a mile and a half over the turf course. Jockey Archibald won the handsome trophv offered by the Victoria Country Club for the best riding record during the closing week at Victoria. Archibald won a similar trophy at Seattle last summer. Jockey English, who had a spectacular fall with Grace Cameron in the steeplechase at Saratoga Monday, is doing nicely, It was feared at first that he bad fractured his skull, but examination at the hospital revealed that beyond a badly contused shoulder lie had not suffered serious injury.
