Bradlcv was acting for James Butler, president of the Umpire City Racing Association, when he purchased the fast two-year-old filly. Turf Star, from J. W. May at a fancy price yesterday is generally credited by those who are familiar witli the relations existing between the popular owner of the Yonkers course and Mr. Bradley. The latter was Mr. Butlers mentor and guide in a series of successful turf speculations during the recent Saratoga meeting and the two men have become warm friends. The relations between other members of the two families are intimate and Mr. Bradley is just the man that Mr. Butler would naturally select to carry into effect his plans for the acquisition of a high-class racing stable. It is said that the yearlings for which Mr. Bradley paid good prices at the Sheepshead Bay sales during the past few days were in reality purchased for .Mr. Butler and that they will carry his colors when they come to the races next year. Eastern turfmen are hoping that these reports will turn out to have been well founded, for the American turf, particularly at this time, is in need of owners of Mr. Butlers caliber and standing. The part that he has played In the rehabilitation of eastern racing has earned him the gratitude of all lovers of the sport, and the hope is general that ills interest will he further enhanced by the pleasure that is to be derived from seeing ones colors carried to victory by a horse of quality.
