AMERICAN JOCKEY IN RUSSIA. San Francisco. Cal.. September 4. Jockey Mcrritt Buxton, the California bo3" who went to Russia last spring, is meeting with success in the land of the czar. In a letter to his father, young Buxton says that he has ridden as many as three winners in .a day. and that he and his brother Clarence are getting along well. Buxton is under engagement to Jack Keene, the American who is training a big string for various prominent Russians. Keene has thirteen two-year-olds In his string. The California hid has a good offer to ride in England next year. His present contract will expire October 23. and his father expects that the two Buxton brothers will return home at that time. Buxton is riding principally at Moscow. When he wrote his last letter to his father. Jack Kceno and Joe Piggott. the jockey, were in the room reading American papers. Piggott has been in Russia severai years.
