Denier set a stiff pace from the start, then kept on even terms with the favorite for nearly two miles before he tired and was a good and game second. St. Nick was a distant third throughout and lias improved. Pagan Bey was kept a hopeless trailer, failed to head the slow going O. K. for half of the journey, made a lame effort at the end of the second mile and linished pulled up and limping linally. O. K. is a very inferior class horse. Waldo was in closest pursuit of the pacemaker in the early running, then drew out when straightened for home and won as his rider pleased. Dalmatian, away slowly, shuffled back and outrun for three furlongs, closed an immense gap into a cyclonic and close up second in a high-class effort. Grasmere, away very badly, made up ground rapidly into third place and stayed there under pressure, but finished swerving and sulking under punishment. Chickasaw, well up from the start, steadily improved his position in the stretch and just failed to get up for third place iu a good race. The Fad outbroke and outpaced the others, but on sufferance as far as "r was concerned, to the stretch, where he began to tire badly and is a fast r.on-stayer on a dr ,- out can run farther in mud. Turf Star ran prominently for half of the journey, though never dangerous, and quit badly iu the last quarter. Angerona, also well up early, retired in the stretch.
