NEW YORK LEGISLATION RUMORS. New York. April 20. A story was published yesterday that Governor Dix would appoint a new State Racing Commission, whieh would recommend the repeal of the so-called directors liability law and advocate a measure legalizing private wagers among individuals on race tracks. A steward of the Jockey Cluli when asked about the matter said: "I have 110 authentic information on the subject. I believe it is time for the appointment of a new commission and I understand that there will be something doing in the way of racing legislation at Albany. Rut I cannot say In just what form it will appear. The state and county fairs are deeply interested- in the lepeal of the liability law. as it will affect them as much as the racing associations. If it is true that the State Grange is in favor of remedial legislation I have no doubt that a bill will be introduced and that it will become a law."
