ENGLANDS LEADING JOCKEY OF THIS YEAR. Mahers Remarkable Record for Fourteen Years in the Saddle Since Going Abroad. Daniel Maher began riding in England in the, year 1000. and at once won favor by his skill in the saddle. Then be was an American and his success abroad was naturally viewed with favor in the land of his birth. Now he is a naturalized Englishman and his exploits redound to the credit of his adopted home. However, that does not detract particularly from the interest with which his career is still observed here. He Is now a full-grown man and, as be can ride at US pounds, lias practically no limit to the length of time In which lie can continue in the protession which has brought him fame and a great fortune.
