October 22.— The mile allowance race that was fourth on the program and scre.l as Hie feature hcie this afternoon, wa.s marked by sceral incidents sat of the ordinary. It was woa : by NoureddJii, running in the interests of K. J. Mctlraw, and incidently it was the horses fourth , straight victory. It was also He Wills first d.-teat on the Maryland circuit, tuat horse having won his : previous live races. The first disqualification of the i..eeting also came with th:- miming of tiiis race. ! The latter came through on the 1 inside in the final eighth and Balko. which was lir- ! ing, repeatedly sweiviil over against him, causing ! l.owder to puil him up. The foul was so palpable i that the stewards promptly changed the placing. ! which gave third money to Eagie. Hie track was heavy and the fields of ordinary i calibre. Faddy s Choiie. -winner of the second race, was advanced |8M oer his entered price of 1.T80, Sai.i | Louis and A. C. Parretto were responsible lor the bidding. James Butler. Jr.. with his bride, who was Miss "onran. of New York, arrived today from the Panama-Pacific exposition. K. I. Miller today lodged a protest against the claiming of the h rae Noureddin from the Marrone stable. This claim was made October 5 and as ail protests are required to be made within forty -eight hours, that alone would throw the protest out. but the stewards ruled that the claim was a perfectly legal one on other grounds. The grounds for ta» protest were that th claim had been made by M. Jacol »on and that he was only a partner with M. IS. Fisher, who started Northern Light in the ra -e out of which Nouriildin was claimed. His contention was that .lacobson was not eligible to mal;e the claim, even as a partner, when the horse raced in Fishers name. Itetore the races E. J. McGraw of Baltimore pur chased the h.-rses Noureddin and Borgo from J. B. Goodman on private terms. Mr. McGraw also acquired the yearlings Cruees, a chestnut colt by vooihces — Chime, and the bay colt Positano, by Solitaire II. — Kremerhafcn. from A. B. S;ireokels. These in rses have been turned over to Steve Judge, who will train them. Watettown winner cf the fifth race, was boosted frnn 00 to .o:ki and bought by Owyn Tompkins. W. S. House is another trainer who contemplates opening a public training stable at Penning. His plans :•:■ • lo ." ; -se of the uldcr horses lie is training, including Enver Bey, and pick up some fresh material for next year. Joseph McLennan received word from Martin Nalhanson that the latter would leave Montreal tor Cuba immediately following the close af the Mount Royal meeting. He will assist ill compiling a new set of rules for racing in Cuba. Last year the Havana club raced under the rules of the Southern Jockey Club, which organization has passed out of existence. In the event of V. P. Beed deciding t.i go into winter quarters with his horses he will ship them to Binning at the conclusion of the Bowie meeting. J. W. Pangle will take over the two-year-olds Irohibiton and Broom Corn at the conclusion of the Laurel tue?ting and ship them to Cuba with the remainder of his string. W. P. Kted today purchased the two-year-old Smilax from Thomas Clyde. Yesterday Iteed sold the mare Mimesis by Ogden — Mimoso to William Garth and he will ship her to bis farm at Charlottesville. Va.. where she will join the band of broodmares he has on bis place. ■ Ames Turncy announced that he would buy no yearlings this year. What two-yea r-olds he races next year will lie of his own breeding. Mr. Tnrney will. as usual, i-onnne his early training next spring to the Benning course. Jockey Timmy McTaggart will not be seen in the stulii:.- anfa until the Pimlico meeting. He has been suffering with stomach trouble and on the reoo:iiei:ilat!on of trainer James Kowe he is taking a rest for a week or ten days.
