START FAVORS MAUD BACON "WINS CABRILLO HANDICAP AT TIJUANA AFTER KING DICK HAD TIRED. Rollin Laird and Minnow Unlucky at Flag-Fall Charles Jordan Is Dead William Ryan Praises Colfroth Course. I Tiju;m:i, Slex., December 5. A straggling start, that practically knocked Kollin Laird and Minnow uit of contention, allowed Slaud Bacon to win the Cabrillo Handicap with apparently little effort today. Kins Dick stole away from the gate to open a wide sap, but lie tired, as i short, in the closing strides, and Maud Bacon then assumed command and won at her riders leisure. Charlie Jordan, formerly an owner of several western crack horses, died here today. AVilliam Ryan, the globe-trotting sportsman of Chicago, who lias visited nearly every race track in America as well as those on foreign soil, had this to say in regard to his impressions of Tijuana: "The enormous Sunday crowd and the volume of the business in the ring was indeed a surprise to me, as was the track and general appointments. The train service and roads to Tijuana are excellent. "Sunday the stadium at Tijuana furnished an interesting boxing contest before the races and the casino interested many visitors later in the evening. Monday, being an off day, we went duck and nu ail shooting. We found plenty of both in the vicinity. In fact, with Lower Californias beautiful climate and other natural advantages, I predict the greatest future of any racing plant in America for Tijuana."
