Other owners that sent representatives here included Green B. Morris. W. Cahill. J. A. Gibson, A. C. Parretto and E. L. Fitzgerald With more than six hundred horses already on the grounds, the Fair Grounds track presents animated scenes daily, and the early hours are given over to routine training The ideal weather and excellent track are irresistible for the horsemen. No sickness, beyond isolated cases of shipping fever, is apparent among the horses and owners, and the turfmen are enthusiastic over the promising outlook for a splendid season. One unacquainted with the facts would suppose, on arrival, that a race meeting was in full blast, judging by the many turf followers in the citv and the additions that each train is bringing. Every trace of the recent big fair lias been obliterated and the horsemen are finding no inconvenience as a result of the show. Joseph A. Murphy is expected in the city Wednesday and other officials are due shortly. The advance work of the meeting is merely routine and the opening could occur tomorrow so far as preparations are concerned.
