MAY CUT OFF ONE TRACK IN MONTREAL. Montreal. Que., May 4.— The suggested amendment to the Wilcox racing bill, to be referred to a special committee at Ottawa, gives only forty-two days racing to be divided among seven tracks in Montreal and vicinity. It is evidently meant by the amendment that one meeting of seven days is to be given to six of the seven tracks and the other cut off. or that the committee may divide the forty -two days between the three mile tracks now "being operated. Last year was the first in which seven tracks were operated iu Montreal and vicinity, Kempton Park being the newcomer. This plant was erected after the King Edward Park management found it impossible to concede to the wishes of the horsemen racing in Montreal and give them the increased purses they asked for. Kempton Park was built in the early autumn, ami two meetings were held. It may also be taken that, as King Edward Park did not give a second meeting a year ago, they will not operate tills year. Through their pledge a year ago the horsemen themselves will be assisting in preventing the building of any more tracks. They decided at a general meeting not to race over any tracks in Canada not built last year, and have siucs renewed their pledge.
