SLOW GALLOPS AT WOODBINE TRACK. Toronto, Out., May 4. — The conditions at the Woodbine course yesterday were most disagreeable. A strong, cold wind swept the course and the track was heavy, consequently slow galloping was the order, with few exceptions. The Thorncliffe Platers, Britannia and Impress were sent a half mile in 53% . The Thorncliffe two-year-olds. Pleasure Bent and Joffre. put in a quarter in 25%. Java to and Gartley worked an eighth In 25. and Sir Launcelot three-eighths in 42. Amphion. in company with Aprisa, went five-eighths in 1:11. Capt. W. J. Press came up from Ottawa and was looking over the "Irish bloodstock" string in charge of Mr. West. The Press string has been cut down by the claiming route to Waukeag and Hubbub. Bavarde. the Giddings entry for the Plate, has not been doing well lately ami will not be a starter. Sol Mintz Akeldama hit himself in his last work and has not been out for a couple of days. The stable of Mr. Seagram is expected from Waterloo today, with the Kings Plate choices included in the band that trainer Barry Littlefield will bring from the farm. The Brookdale horses of Messrs. Dyment are due from Barrie this week, and the home-bred contingent for the spring racing at Woodbine will then be here in practically full strength. Some well-known horses were among the arrivals at Woodbine yesterday from Maryland. The shipment consisted of: Al Austins Commonada. Milestone. Tito. Jim Heffering and Holliuger. The last-named pair are two-year-olds. J. G. Wagnons Goldcrest Boy and Bac. j W. Stormonts The Masquerader, El Key, Reno. I 1 Bepton, Beybourn and Scaramouch. j
