FILLY FOALS ARE IN THE MAJORITY Lexington. Ky.. April 13. There is general «-om-plaint among the breeders of thoroughbred horses in Kentucky that Allies are coming this year in greater than the usual jiercentage. Probably 7i ■at c-nt of all of the foals thus far dropped are tillies. according to the ratios given by the breeders. Ordinarily colts are in greater demand, for tiny bring more money as yearlings than do the tillies. and they bring more money for the reason that, generally speaking, they are hotter racing prospects; being males, they are stronger and nior-lastiug. and their earning capacity usually i greater. However, one philosophical turfman, who expressed his belief in a Divine plan in all things, commented that this coming of so many Allies thi year may prove a great blessing in disguise. "I take it." said he. "as an indication that the em! of the war is near at hand. The warring nation-, must have a replenishment of their depleted horse stock. They cannot have this replenishment without mares. 1 believe that God is providing the mares."
