SEWELL COMBS RUNS A FAST MILE Lexington. Ky.. April 13. — Sewell Combs, Galla-her Bros. candidate for the Kentucky Derby, made the work-watchers at the Kentucky Association course sit un and take notice this morning, when he worked a mile in 1:11%. the l est move of the season here, being two-fifths of a second faster than the performance of Plum, one of Maj. T. 1. McDowells Kentucky Derby eligible*, a few-days ago. All along he has been regarded as highly improved over his two-year-old form and horsemen now are saying that he has far better than an outside chance for the highly coveted prize. Sewell Combs first engagement is in the Ben Ali Handicap at one mile and one-six teenth. to he decided here April 27. Mack Garner will ride Sewell Combs in the Derby.
