Bcdwell. manager of the breeding and racing establishment of J. K. L. Uoss, the Canadian turfman, has notified George Iteed that he will ship Pudge] and two of the stables Kentucky Derby eligibles to rhureoill Downs within the course of a week. Stabling accommodation for the three horses has been secured in the same barn with the twelve horses that Bead is training for P.edvvell at the local track. Owners Hoss has an even half-dozen colts in this years Derby, ill! foreign -bred, and speculation among local" horsemen is lively regarding which of the for-eign-breds trainer P.edvvell will decide to ship here. Those which are in the confidence of Mr. Bcdwell believe he will select Hillhampton and Corn Exchange. According to reports from Maryland this pair have shown up lieltcr iu their work than any of the others. Kacing Secretary J. V.. Campbell has arrived from Hot Springs, and will immediately start upon the preparation of tiie program book for the Churchill Downs meeting. In compiling the different Bans, special attention will he paid to Issg -distance races, as it is the desire of the Churchill Downs management to put on as many of the long-distance races as possible. George Strata, in charge of the J. H. Uosseter stable, has derided not to participate in the Lexington meeiiug. The stables crack rider. Albert Johnson, will, however, ride at Lexiugton. He will be in charge of Early McQuaidc, who will also make Klcgers engagements. C. W. Carroll will ship five of the A. It. Spreek-els las year aide to Lexington in the event that he secures suitable stabling room. J. Metcalf will do the stables riding this spring. Col. Matt J. Winn, Charles F. Craingor and Col. Andrew Venule will be among those who will go from bssjsville to attend tiie opening of the season at Lexingu.n. Mr. GrategCT will also attend a meeting of the Kentu-.ky Slate Racing Commission called for Tuesday morning.
