CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF Among the horses which have recently died and tlieir deaths rc|tortcd to tlie Jockey Club are Fleclia Negro. Supreme and Rapids. H. T. Oxnard and II. It. Dulany have shipped a number of their two-year-olds to Arlington Park for the five-day meeting there. M. J. Daly has Ocean Prince. Delaney and several of Senor A. Lezaiuas horses at the new Arlington 1ark track across from Washington. Philippic will carry the colors of O. A. Cochran in the Iinilico Spring Handicap, while Xepperhan will be the stables standard bearer iu the Preak-ness. II. Eugene Leigh has arranged for stabling room at the Downs track, as Ik- intends to ship most of the horses there he now has in training at Hot Springs. Croix Rogue is the name of one of the most promising two -year -olds in II. T. Oxnanls string. She is by Sir Wilfrid — lroud Duchess, and was bred at the Oxnard farm in Virginia. T. C. McDowells Kentucky Derby candidate, Olive Wood, worked three-quarters in 1:13% at Lexington Saturday. Many turfmen believe this filly is the one to beat in the big Kentucky race. Though Willie Shaw has not yet taken out a license to ride during the 1918 season, he is keeping himself in condition by galloping horses around New York. It is ex|iected that lie will be seen in the saddle by the time the metropolitan tracks open. Thomas J. Healey has made application for transportation of sixteen of K. T. Wilsons thoroughbreds from Belmont Park to Mount Washington April 2A, and J. W. May will send a shipment of M. L. Schwartz and his own horses from Gravesend. In England this year the Two Thousand Guineas will Ik- run May 1. the One Thousand Guineas May 3. tlie New Derby June 4 and the New Oaks Stakes on June 0. The substitute for tlie Doncaster St. I*-ger. called the September Stakes, is set for Wednesday. Septemlier 11. Tlie Derby will be run on Tuesday and the Oaks on Thursday. Before their banishment from Epsom to Newmarket, these great races were always run ou Wednesday and Friday respectively. C. M. Garrison, of tlie Calumet Stable, suffered the loss of his entire stable of horses, composed of Geo. W. Avery. Joe Larsen. Qucsun. Bellvaal. Yapavi. Caljer and Moosehead. in the disastrous fire which occurred on the night of April 11 at the Bowie nee track. James Johnson also lost his horse Jocular and C. P. Winfrey his horses. Woodward and Jem. All of these horses wen- insured ill the Hartford through the general agency of John A. Payne. Cincinnati, O. The good colt Kragouard. also destroyed iu this fire, unfortunately for his owner, was not insured.
