• m TEXAS-BRED HORSES AT THE DOWNS B. N. Vestal Brings a String of Twelves from Lone Star State to Race in Kentucky. Louisville. Ky.. April 22. — It. N. Vestal arrived yesterday at Churchill Downs from Schiilonlmrg. Texas, with eleven Texas bred two-year-olds and one ihree-year-old. Seven of the number are the properly of G. L. Blackford, of Denison. Texas. die youngsters represent the product of both of these breeders, who are among the leaders of the thoroughbred industry iu the Lone Star State. All of those owned by Mr. Blackford are by Meelick, which is standing at the head of the Blackford stud, while, with one exception, the Clark band are by Everett. Considerable interest attaches lo a bay filly in Dr. Clarks list, due to the fact that she is the first foal to b" najsj by the mare Trade Mark. This mare figured in an attempted "ringing" case at Juarez three years ago. when certain parties entered her in a race under the name of White Plume. Mr. P.laekford purchased the mare after this incident and bred her to his good stallion Orb. All of the youngsters brought here by trainer Yestal are iu splendid condition and will be given their first taste of racing at the Churchill Downs meeting. Following is the list: Property of G. L.
