LATEST METROPOLITAN TURF GOSSIP Steeplechase Association Grants Licenses Quincy Stable Buys Yearlings, NEW YORK. N. Y.. Marcli 7. At a meeting of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association, held yesterday, gentleman riders certificates were granted subject to the approval of the hunt committee to the following: Karl Whittindale and William R. Martin. Trainers licenses were granted to Garner Diggs, William L. Oliver, James W. Healey and, James Boden. Jockeys licensed were Shelton Turner, Clarence Jones, Wallace Taylor, -a. Browm- A Fitzgerald, and -rB,Hayiajr Permission to give steeplechases were granted nfi follows: Harford Agricultural and Breeders Association, Havre de Grace, April 11 to April 16. Henry J. Morris was appointed steward to represent the National Steeplechase and limit Association at the Queens County Jockey Club, Aqueduct, June 23 to July 11, and September 15 to September 27. Frank J. Bryan was appointed steward to represent the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association. As a result of the journey to Kentucky, James Fitzsimmons, in the interest of the Quincy Stable, the string has been added to by the purchase of eleven yearlings, all bay colts by Wrack, Fair Play and Trap Rock. Fitzsimmons bought seven Wrack yearlings from A. B. Hancock, the dams of which are Lady Elite, Single Shot, Marie Francis, Votes. Gold, Treeless and Irish Wit. The dams of the Fair Play trio are Mahubah, Mission and Felicity, while the other is by Trap Rock Peccadillo. T. Rice and G. Walls will do the riding for the stable this year, while John Sanford has first call on the latter. It is expected he will be in line for many of the mounts on the Quincy horses. Archibald Barklie lias hunted the steeplechaser Blankenburg all winter, which makes this horse eligible to all hunters races. E. T. Klenck, the steeplechaser rider, has returned from France and will take up riding again. He is now at Camp Dix, and expects to be mustered out in a few days.
