CARR and PIATT THE REAL PURCHASERS LEXINGTON, Ky., March 7. James D. Carr and Thomas Piatt today stated that they had bought for their own account, and not for the account of James McClelland, those fifteen yearlings from Major August Belmont. "Edward F. Sims, who is interested with Mr. McClelland in the ownership of Eternal," said Mr. Carr, ."secured an option on the yearlings and turned it over to us. Wc bought the yearlings purely as n speculation. They arc for sale at a profit, one or all of them. If we do not sell them now we will offer them at auction -later in the year. The demands for thoroughbreds -is stronger than the supply and .we arc sure to make money .on .these purchases. Major Belmont sold them because, I am informed, he does not intend to train any more of ids; young stock until the .first of Hourless progeny come to hand."
