MANLY MEMORIAL TODAY Main Steeplechase Race of the Year to Be Run at PimNco. Eleven Crack Jumpers Named to Start Details of Mondays Racing. PIMLICO, Md., November 3. The Maryland Jockey Club will offer tomorrow the premier attraction of the year for jumpers the Manlv Memorial Steeplechase of 0,000 added. Eleven of the foremost jumpers of the year are named to start in this valuable race through the field, and an immense crowd is certain to lo present to see its decision. Delegations of Hunt Club members and their friends from New York, Philadelphia, Washington. Baltimore and surrounding cities are coming in large numbers and will help to swell the regular attendance to large proportions. Max Hirsch saddled two winners at Pimlico this afternoon iu S. Lewis Jean Bullant and G. W. Lofts Tippity Witchet. The former beat a band of two-year-old maidens in the opening race, a dasli of three-quarters of a mile, while Tippity Witchets victory came witli the running of the Stafford Handicap, which brought out a field of good sprinters. Tippity Witchet was ridden by Pierce, came from last place and, finishing with a rusli through the homestretch, won going away by a length and a half from the heavily backed favorite, Flags. Cobalt Lass stumbled and lost her rider soon after the start. A stirring finish came with the running of the steeplechase when Max Meadows beat Smithfield by it short head. . Joyful, favorite in the second race, brought joy to her backers by scoring in sensational style after "pmitIygTrtn.:aytliieled- the" last eighth and seemed all over a winner when suddenly the McGee filly slipped through on the inside, caught and passed the leader a few yards from the finish and was awarded the decision by a small margin. Commander Ross Boniface came back today after his easy victory Saturday and beat Leocbares in a fine run race in the mile dash, run as the sixth. Jockey Thurber was an . arrival from Kentucky and will finish out the season on the Maryland tracks. Jockey Ensor was suspended for five days by starter Cassidy for disobedience while at the post in the opening race. Willie .Shields was an arrival. He brought with him a three-year.-old, the property of Xavier Obal-ski. Doleful lias been turned out for the winter at Red Bank. New Jersey. Shields has signed up to train for E. R. Thomas next year. Vice-Chairman once more is running in the name and colors of J. W. May. R. L. Bresler has arranged to ship seven yearlings to Havana. Jockey Everett Haynes will probably go to Cuba to ride for the Bresler stable. P. T. Chinn, acting for Larry Waterbury, purchased of the Allies Stable the Fair Play fillies Masda and Vireo, and the pair will be shipped to Kentucky and retired to the stud.
