With the arrival of many of the smaller racing stables from v the north and east both Jefferson Park and the n Fair Grounds are becoming cramped for stall space d even this early. So closely is the Jefferson Park n course pressed in this respect. that the management s was forced to issue an order barring yearlings and - stable- ponies, so that every stall can be utilized a for horses in training that will be raced at the a meeting. A few stables have been split into two 1 sections, the older horses remaining at Jefferson Park and the yearlings at the Fair Grounds. a The task of registering the horses for" the Jeffer- I son Park meeting and issuing ilie trainers and s jockeys licenses will begin next week at the a Shrewsbury track. The licenses at Jefferson will 1 not hold- for the Fair Grounds meeting, as all ap- i plications there will have tq be approved by the I license committer, which is composed of Judge Joseph A. Murphy, J. B. Campbell and S. C. I Nuckols, Jr. Even though the weather here today was unusually cold for this section, many trainers had their charges out bright and early at both Jefferson I Park and the Fair Grounds. The going at the for- : mer course was lightning fast, while at the latter ; it had reached a good stage. Included in the vast number of horses out for gallops at the old course 1 were quite a few two-year-olds, and they at- tracted a lot of attention. Several more stables arrived from Kentucky after long delays on the road, and a few are still held up somewhere in Mississippi, where a bridge ."went out" .following the recent heavy rainsl From eight to fifteen hours were lost because of having . to detour the express horse- cars by way of" Hatties- . burg. Most of these horses were sold" at auction in Kentucky and were reported to have changed hands, but evidently they were bid in for their owner. FAIR GROUNDS NEARING" COMPLETION. The Fair Grounds management has been able lo obtain the services of additional teams and laborers within the past few days and the work on the plant, which will be practically a new one, is being rapidly rushed to completion. But for a shortage of labor and teams during the summer the work would have been finished long ago. Track superintendent Placide Frigerio was advised by wire that a race horse special train will leave Baltimore in a day or so with New Orleans as its destination. Some of the larger racing establishments which have been participating in the 1 sport at Pimlico, Laurel and Havre de Grace will send their horses on this train. Jockey Mac Garner was among the recent arrivals f and he will ride as a free lance at both meetings , here. Jockey B. Kpppleman came from Reno, Nev., . where he rode at the recent meeting there.
