REGISTRARS EASY VICTORY J. K. L. Ross Friar Rock Colt Wins McNaughton Handicap. Ima Frank and Tan Son Carry G-. H. Goodacres Colors to a Double Victory. 1 FOBT EBIE, Out., August 11. .T. K. L. Boss Registrar, the three-year-old son of Friar Bock Star of Danube, accounted for the McNaughton Handicap, which was offered as the feature attraction at Fort Erie this afternoon. Blackie Daw and Mock Orange put up a sensational battle for" second place, the former earning it in the final stride. The dash was at a mile and a sixteenth and brought together a field of six. there being one withdrawal. Golden Sphere. The race was run over a track which was slippery, due to a sudden shower which drenched the course previous to the running of the fourth race. The start was a good one and Erickson. astride Itegistrar, sent him to the front witli a rush and he soon sprinted into a commanding lead. Blackie Daw made a determined bid when straightened out on the backstreteh, but the winner drew away without urging. Registrar was well supported by the talent and paid a fair dividend. Cloudy and threatening weather conditions prevailed this afternoon and had a slight deterring effect on the attendance, which was not as large as that of yesterday. The card was, with the exception of the feature race, given over to a mediocre band of platers, hut nevertheless stirring racing resulted. G. H. Goodacre accounted for two of the afternoons races when Ima Frank, ridden by Butwell, scored in an easy manner in the third, and Tan Son took a small band of throe-year-olds into camp in the fourth, a dash of a mile and a sixteenth. Ima Frank was the favorite and assumed the lead when well straightened out on the back-stretch and, saving ground throughout, drew into a safe lead to win easily from Polar Cub and Cormoran. The success of Tan Son was as easily achieved. Burke kept him within striking distance of the pacemaker Antilles, and when he called on him in the stretch the son of Aeronaut quickly passed her and passed the judges three lengths to the good. The first race of the day witnessed the graduation of Humorist from the ranks of maiden racers, the Ross-bred colt displaying a high order of speed and leading all the way to win by a safe margin. Buster and Kellys Queen, the first and second choices respectively, lost whatever chances they may have had when they were carried wide entering the stretch. Both were in contending positions at the time. LADY LUXURY BY FOUR LENGTHS. The six-year-old mare Lady Luxury won the second race. She had a safe margin of four lengths at the finish. After racing Youneed into defeat on the far turn Lady Luxury found easy sailing thereafter. Youneed was the decided choice, but disposing of Miss Dora proved too much a task and when the winner challenged was found unable to successfully resist the fast closing rush. While W. C. Weants Sea Way caught the speculative eye in the sixth race, there were those that did not overlook the consistent Duke Buff. They were well rewarded by their faith in the Virginia bred racer, as he was returned winner after a performance that left no doubt that lie was master of the situation at all times. Saved in the early tunning, he moved to the front on the far turn at the call of his rider and held sway to the end. Jake Fold was second, racing welt up throughout, but never able to overtake the winner. Sea "Way flattered his backers hy an early display of speed that gave him the lead for half the journey, but had nothing left when the real racing began. W. M. Cain, following the running of the fourth race, claimed Tan Son from G. H. Good-acre for .,000. Jockey I. Gordon was suspended by starter Mor-rissey for the remainder of the meeting for disobedience at the post. It was reported today that during the Hamilton meeting the plater Thursday Nighter, which was badly cut down in a race, had died from the effects of his injuries. B. T. McKeover arrived from New York this morning and stated that he had shipped his horses to Windsor and would finish out the remainder of the Canadian season. Trainer Joseph Tevis announced today that he would ship his own horses to Windsor and sever his connection with the Kenton Stable.
