The latter swerved over sharply in the stretch and impeded CLINTONA1LLE, but finished fast. CLIX-TONAILLE suffered from interference, but ran a good race and finished gamely. COLUMBIA TKN.X raced Into the lead, but tired badly in the last eighth. SKILES KNOB closed a gap and ran well. SWEET LIBERTY was knocked back after going a half mile. COL. TAYLOR quit after setting a fast early pace. SMILING LAD began fast and was saved close up from the start, lost some ground by coming wide into the st retell, but finished gamely and won in the last stride. TULANE ran "a fine race all the way and, setting the pace except briefly, tired and just lasted for second place. BULLET PROOF ran well and had a rough race and suffered from repeated interference in the last three-eighths. BEN i.OLT showed the most speed for nearly a half mile before tiring. LADY MA DP A P tired after being prominent all the way and racing into the lead 011 the last turn. MAR.TORIE 1IYNES raced forwardly to the far turn. BLACK SERVANT set a fast pace to the far turn, but quit badly in the last quarter. SANDS OF PLEASURE showed improvement and closed a big gap in the last half. REST PAL finished lame. BY GOLLY was under sharp restraint for three-, quarters and, racing into the lead, probably would have won had his rider sent him along at his best. MATINEE IDOL ran a good race, but tired and just lasted to hold third place. LEGAL made up ground and finished gamely.
