The hitter worked his way up on the outside and, closing a big gap, finished with a rush. CART. HODGE, sluillled back at the start, saved ground on tiie turns and also closed a great gap. AYRAITH forced the early pace and outstayed HASTEN ON. The latter saved much ground ou the stretch turn, but tired near the finish. PIUST I MILLET finished fast. The latter was saved behind CORONADO until at the fourteenth jump, then took the lead, but tired in the last eighth and pulled up quite lame. CORONADO, fencing wejl, raced into a long lead in the first mile, but tired badly. LE CYPEIN stumbled at several jumps.
