i i c 1 i , : i J J 1 J I WINNEE3 FIEST JULY MEETING- AT NEWMABKET LONDON. England, July 1. R. C. Dawsons Blandford, three-year-old bay colt, by Swynford Blanche, defeated B. W. Parrs Silver Image by two lengths in the Princess of Wales Stakes at the Newmarket First July meeting. Sol Joes Sicyon was third. Blandford carried 112 pounds as compared with 123 for Silver Image and 117 for Sicyon. The running of the July Cup resulted in a victory for James Whites Pharmacie, which led R. II. Edwards King Solitude to the finish by four lengths. Pharmacie is a four-year-old chestnut filly, by Charles OMalley Prescription. L. Gardas Stratford, a three-year-old bay colt, by Swynford Lesbia, which his pres- ent owner purchased at the Lord Manton estate dispersal sale, scored a good victory over Invergarry in the Duke of Cambridge Handicap, winning by a length. The winner carried 113 pounds. Black Gown was third. Lord Furness Legality, bay or gray colt, by Charles OMalley Keplers Law. won the July Stakes for two-year-olds by three lengths from Lord Derbys Moabite and Lord dAbernons Cos, a brown daughter of Flying Orb Renaissance, won tha Stud Produce Stakes, another two-year-old race, by three lengths. Lord Woolavingtons Town Guard, bay colt, by Hurry On Williams Pride, won the Exeter Stakes for two-year-olds by three lengths. H. R. Kings Tarpon, two-year-old brown colt, by Sunstar Harpoon, won the Fulbornc Stake3 by a length. Sir William Cookes Devizes, five-year-old bay horse, by Valcns Deslioni, was in a way the hero of the meeting. Carrying 140 pounds he ran a dead heat in the Hare Park Handicap Tuesday. He came back and carried 130 pounds to victory in the Ellesmere Stakes Friday.
