EXTERMINATOR IN FINE FORM LATONIA, Ky., July 1. Exterminator, favorite for the Independence Handicap, which will feature the card hero next Tuesday, was given a mile and a quarter work-out this morning under George Rowes supervision, Eugene "Wayland having been delayed and will not reach here until tomorrow. The Kilmer representative performed his task in easy fashion and covered the distance in 2:0SV6, the fractions being 25, 40, 1:14, 1:39. Broomster, which will carry the Harry Payne "Whitney colors in the Independence Handicap, worked a mile and a half, hard held, at not part being extended, and finished in 2:40. Firebrand surprised by the easy manner in which he took his work-out and finished the mile and a half in 2:35. There is widespread interest in the race, and it centers particularly around Exterminators possible performance under his crushing impost of 140 pounds.
