ENTRIES FOR MELBOURNE OUP Nominations for this years Melbourne Cup total 299, a record for the race, the previous best being 27S in 1919. An entry of 27G for the Caufield Cup is also a record. Last year there were 249 entries for the Caulfield Cup and 274 for the Melbourne Cup, and the starters for those races totaled 20 and 25, respectively.
