GREAT RACER RADIUM DIES SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. LONDON, England, September IS Radium, nineteen-year-old bay stallion by Bend Or Taia, by Donovan, was destroyed at South Court, Leighton Buzzard Bucks, where he was standing. The stallion has been sterile for some time. Radium was a fine race horse and a noted stayer over long distances. In 1907 and 190S he engaged in some renowned battles with two other stayers in The White Knight and Torpoint, holding his own nobly against such formidable antagonists. The White Knight licked him in the Ascot Gold Cup and Tor-point took his measure in the Alexandra Plate, but in his turn he beat them both afterward in a series of victories in which he won the Dillingham Plate, Goodwood Cup, Doncaster Cup and Jockey Club Cup all these in 1908. For a time he was a successful sire after his retirement to the stud.
