Won easily; second and third driving. GLADIATOR, running in improved form, followed the early leaders under slight restraint until in the Dual eighth, then raced into the lead and won going away. WILD HEATHER raeed into a long early lead and. saving ground on the turns, made a game, but tiring, finish. AMANDA HOEY closed up gamely in the stretch, but was in close quarters and was forced back, then closed up again and outtinished VAL-ENTIA in the final drive. The latter was a forward contender in the early running, but tired in the htretch. GOOD TIME raced prominently to. the eighth post. CUM SAU was always outpaced. RLUE TEAL was shuffled back in the tir-.t eighth. Overweights Valentia. 1 pound; Rlue Teal, 5; Dovesroost. 1. Won driving; second and third the same. MOHICAN, after racing in closest pursuit of the leader to the last quarter, took the lead in the last eighth and won hard ridden. FRANK R. set a very fast early pace under restraint and, jumping well, made a resolute finish. THE VIRGINIAN lacked early speed, but took third place at the twelfth jump, then his rider failed to persevere with him ia the stretch and he almost lost his position. NEW HAVEN had no mishaps. HELL GATE began slowly, but gradually improved his position and, coming fast through the stretch, wore COEUR DE LION down in the final fifty yards and won drawing clear. COEUR DE LION, hampered at the start, gained into a contending position while rounding the last turn and, racing CAPE CLEAR into defeat, took the lead, but could not withstand the winners challenge. BAYONET set the early pace and, coming gamely in the final eighth, outstayed FULLON in the final drive. The latter worked his way up on the outside and finished fastest of all but the winner. CAPE CLEAR showed 6peed for five-eighths and took the lead, but tired finally. SPOT CASH raced moderately well. Scratched 65094Rigel. 105; G1730Great Man, 12S. IRISH BRIGADIER, marvelously improved, took the lead quickly and, setting a fast pace, withstoodrepcated challenges in the stretch, but tired in the final sixteenth and was doing his best at the end. SEDGEFIELD, well ridden, improved his position gradually on the inside and, finishing with a great rush through the stretch, would have won in a few more strides. BON HOMME, under a stout pull in the early running, made a game effort in the last quarter, but tired finally. HEPHAISTOS was a furward contender for three-quarters, but tired in the last eighth. CAPTAIN ALCOCK was never prominent. JOHN PAUL JONES was much used in forcing the early pace and, tiring, was eased up wheii beaten. Scratched G5051Southern Cross, 109; G5011Lucky Hour, 115. Won driving; second and third the ! same, KING ALBERT was saved under restraint until in the final eighth, then wore CANYON down in the stretch and could have won farther off. CANYON raced in closccst pursuit and, slipping through on , the inside when entering the stretch, disposed of QUESADA and finished gamely. QUESADA set a fast : pace for a half mile, but tired in the final quarter and just lasted long enough to withstand WINNE-CONNES challenge. MORMAW r displayed excellent speed in fast pacemaking, but gave way when challenged. MARIONETTE was a forward - contender all the way and, finishing gamely, would have been second in a few more strides. BEL-PHRIZONIA - was forced wide when entering the stretch and finished gamely. PANACHE met with minor interference at the three-sixteenths post.
