MONTREAL RACING ENDED Large Crowd Sees Spirited and Thrilling Finishes at Dorval. Concluding Days Sport. MONTREAL, Que., September 18. Today marked the close of the racing season of 1922 on the Canadian Racing Associations tracks in Quebec when the curtain was rung down on the Dorval Jockey Clubs fall meeting. Racing conditions were all that could be desired and a large crowd turned out to witness the sports, well-balanced fields going to the post and a majority of the races furnishing stirring finishes. Dairyman proved a surprise in the first race when he won with comparative ease from Black Baby. The winner paid the handsome dividend of 8.90 in the .00 mutuels. "Veronica and "Water Tax fought it out in the stretch in the second race and when the final test came the former proved the gamer and beat Water Tax by a scant length. Four of the eight starters in the third race passed the finishing line in a compact bunch, heads apart.. The winner was. in doubt until the official placing was displayed, which made it Kuklux, End Man and Mumbo Jumbo. Bromelia was fourth. Dark Hill surprised his backers by coming from behind and beating Charles J. Craigmile in a driving finish. The winner usually quits when a horse passes him, but today he displayed gameness unsuspected. The locally owned Mouette, which raced in the colors of the Canadian sportsman and breeder, Donald Raymond, proved an easy winner of the sixth. Mouette caught and passed the tiring pacemaker Beckna at the top of the home stretch and drew away into a commanding lead in the last quarter. Beckna pulled up lame. Several horsemen shipped to Havre de Grace yesterday, among them A. C. Porretto with the W. J. Kramer string and H. C. Mur-nan, John J. McCafferty and P. J. Miles. W. A. Burttschell contemplates going tomorrow. F. J. Stevens goes to Maple Heights track at Cleveland with the Thomas Doyle string. The Thomas McKinney, Whyte and Fox-head Mews horses left for Toronto. Jockey Ambrose also left to join the Seagram Stable at the Woodbine. J. Hope has taken up the plater Poilu, which has been turned out all summer at the Nesbitt farm back of Montreal. Hope shipped Col. De Egtrampes horses to Cleveland and at the conclusion of that meeting he will go direct to Havana. F. Doyle secured the fast sprinter End Man at private terms this morning from J. E. Nagle.
