10 Max Hirsch who at present is enjoying a well earned vacation will come back to racing this year with a large and important string of horses His charges are in stable No 1 at Belmont Park and altogether he has twentythree that will be prepared for the races These are the property of various owners no less than six different sets of silks being represented Besides George W Loft a member of the State Racing Commis ¬ sion and Mrs Loft the others in the stable are the property of Stephen Pettit Sam H Harris James B Smith Admiral Gary T Grayson and there are two that Hirsch will race for himself himselfThe The jumper Sweepment that races under the silks of Mrs Loft and On Watch in Mr Lofts string are the veterans of the stable Sweepment is a sevenyearold while On Watch is one year younger On Watch undoubtedly the best son of Colin narrowly escaped being a great horse but he is still something better than useful Sweepment is a truly brilliant jumper but he has had to carrj excessive weights in most of his races and Hirsch has had no end of trouble keep ¬ ing him going on that account Both are looking exceedingly well and will doubtless be ready when wanted wantedThe The only other one that will race for Mrs Loft is Corse Payton a fouryearold geld ¬ ing that formerly raced as Twenty Seventh Division He is also a jumper and one that has given some promise in his private school ¬ ing ingMr Mr Loft besides On Watch has the three yearold filly Kippy and a pair of twoyear olds One of these is a bay colt by Broom ¬ stick Seamstress by Star Shoot and the other is a
