ELECT ASHLAND OFFICIALS TriState Fair and Racing Asso ¬ ciation Expects to Have New Track Ready May 1 LEXINGTON Ky January 10 The an ¬ nual meeting of the stockholders of the TriState Fair and Racing Association which is building the new Eastern Kentucky plant near Ashland was held yesterday Messrs Ben Williamson of Ashland Charles H Ber ryman John S Barbee Thomas B Crom ¬ well J O Keene R L Northcutt all of Lex ¬ ington and Dr Andrew Clark Lowry of Irionton Ohio were elected directors The directors met immediately after the stock ¬ holders meeting and reelected officers as follows Charles H Berryman president Dr A C Lowry vicepresident J O Keene general manager John S Barbee treasurer and Thomas B Cromwell secretary and as ¬ sistant treasurer treasurerBids Bids for the erection of the grandstand on specifications requiring that it be com ¬ pleted by May 1 were opened Architect Frank L Smith was instructed to call rep ¬ resentatives of the three lowest bidders to Lexington tomorrow when the contract will be awarded The grandstand will cost ap ¬ proximately 110000 and trill be of steel and concrete concreteGeneral General manager Keene reported progress with other phases of construction and stated after the meeting that the plant most as ¬ suredly will be ready for opening before June 15 and announced it to be his inten ¬ tion to ask the State Racing Commission for racing dates following the close of the spring meeting at Latonia LatoniaIt It is our purpose said he to have eventually a recreation place second to none in the country and the people of the Tri State section of Kentucky Ohio and West Virginia already have assured us of their appreciation and cooperation in the most substantial way They are liberally buying our stock and telling us that they can hardly wait until we can get the plant com ¬ pleted so eager are they for the sport that we will bring to them Heretofore they have had to travel far for such recreation and there are many thousands of them who of course were not in a position to see much racing
