AMERICAN OWNERS JUMPER WINS ABROAD LONDON England February 17 Alex ¬ ander Smith Cochrans Libretto won the Wal ¬ ton Steeplechase at Hurst Park Friday de ¬ feating a band of ten good horses including six Grand National candidates A E Scott who is to have the mount on Duettiste in the big Liverpool race rode the winner winnerA A N Lloyds Trentilo carrjing 165 pounds and conceding twenty pounds to the winner finished second four lengths behind Libretto while Stephen Sanfords Grand National can ¬ didate Sergeant Murphy was third a half length faVther back The Sanford horse carried 1C4 pounds and was ridden by Ben ¬ nett nettLibretto Libretto is an eightyearold chestnut horse by Book Bonne Espoir The Walton Steeplechase was his first race in England He is a mean looking individual but jumps well and is speedy He is trained by AVhit taker who has tha future favorite for the Grand National Arravale in his care careSergeant Sergeant Murphy seemed in fine condition and jumped well He was never farther back than third He appears to be a for ¬ midable candidate for the Grand National if he continues in his present form
