RAIN VISITS MOBILE Slows the Track and Lessens the Attendance Stevenson First in the Principal PrincipalRace Race of the Day Sky Man ManWins Wins at Long Odds MOBILE Ala March 28 Charity day was observed at the Fair Grounds this afternoon all the profits being turned over to the vari ¬ ous organizations in the city to be divided among them The weather man did not co ¬ operate in the movement to help the needy needyRain Rain early in the morning was followed by colder temperature and kept the attend ¬ ance below expectations A fair crowd was out nevertheless No especial damage to the gding was done by the early rains although continued drizzling in the afternoon slowed the course a fraction fractionR R Warfields patchedup Stevenson easily won the Morrison Cafeteria Purse at a mile and ssventy yards Jacobina and Marse Jimmie divided the remainder of the piirse Stevenson fancied in the betting and well ridden by Moore raced to the front at the rise of the barrier and led all the way win ¬ ning by three lengths Jacobina had no mis ¬ haps Marse Jimmie finished fast fastSky Sky Man making his first start at the meeting and quoted as one of the outsiders won the first race from the favorite Spring Vale by a length and a half the latter fin ishing second by two lengths Emden was third Fringe wheeled at the start startLast Last Girl well backed accounted for the second race on the program winning under hard riding from Sandalwood and C A Comiskey C A Comiskey after falling to his knees at the start recovered ouickly and slipped through next to the rail while round ¬ ing the last turn turnDOUISLK DOUISLK FOH JOCKEY MOOHE MOOHEJockey Jockey E T Moore scored a double when he brought Propaganda home in front by two lengths with Go second and Palwin third Moore rode the winner well permit ¬ ting Rubula to set the early pace and re ¬ serving his mounts speed until one turn of the track had been covered When entering the backstretch in the second time around Propaganda passed Rnbula and drew away awayMrs Mrs L M Reuters Mary G alertly ridden by Mangan won the third race by three lengths from Sandy H and Search Light IH Ruggles was made the favorite but ran out on the first turn while racing prominently and never regained the ground thus lost lostNormandie Normandie racing more kindly than he did yesterday accounted for the fifth race after a hard drive from Sacajawea Kingling II took third place placeJulius Julius G Reeder returned from New Or ¬ leans in the interest of the Huntington meeting which opens April 12 He will again go to the Crescent City tomorrow to super vise a shipment of six cars of horses to the West Virginia meeting He will be back again Saturday SaturdayMr Mr Reeder denied a rumor that oral bet ¬ ting would bo conducted at Huntington mu tuuls having been installed installedJockey Jockey E Martin canceled his riding en ¬ gagements today due to illness illnessThe The sale of horses which was to be held today was postponed until tomorrow
