COLONEL WILKINSONS VIEWS Inspector of Race Courses for English Jockey Club Returns from Visit to India LONDON England March S Colonel G Eason Wilkinson the inspector of race courses for the Jockey Club has returned to his home at York on the conclusion of his tour of the race courses of India and his visit to Calcutta to advise the Calcutta Turf Club on the laying out of their new race course In giving his impressions to a Yorkshire Post representative Colonel Wilkinson thinks the English courses are better adapted for first class racing A careful study of the total ¬ izator in practice confirms the Colonels opin ¬ ion that it is not in the best interests of highclass racing such as exists in England and that its introduction to English meetings should be resisted The licensing of book ¬ makers he highly approves and says he be ¬ lieves that if the Jockey Club had power to take that step all the reputable bookmakers would welcome it
