BROWN raced to the front with a rush after entering the homestretch and was under restraint at the end ATHANNA set a fast early pace, disposed of CHIEF SPONSOR, but could not withstand the winner. CHIEF SPONSOR ran well and finished gamely. FAR EAST was fractious and delayed the start, then began slowly and closed a big gap. FATHER DAMIEN and PLYMOUTH ROCK made up much ground. Won handily; second and third driving. HEAVY ARTILLERY raced to the front in the first twenty yards and, setting a fast pace, out-finished MUSTARD SEED gamely. MUSTARY SEED, away well, saved ground when entering the homestretch and made a fast finish. FLEET PRINCESS rushed up into contention quickly, but ran out on the stretch, then swerved to the inner rail and, ccming again; outgamed TONY SUE. The latter always held the others safe. FAIR GAIN was outpaced in the early running and raced to the leaders with a rush on the last turn, but never menaced the winner and was driving at the end to outstay JOHN PAUL JONES. The latter, always close up, made a fast finish. LOUIS A. finished with a belated rush. HARMONIOUS and PROCYON were much used in chasing the winner closely and quit. Overweights Louis A., 1 pound.
