i MATT. WINN GOING EAST; To See International Race at Belmont Saturday 1 Praise for A. Belmont and Associates. LATONIA, Ky., Oct. 17. General manager Matt J. Winn of the Kentucky Jockey Club J , will take a few days off from Latonia in 1 order to seen the International race run at Belmont Park next Saturday. Colonel Winn said : "The success of the 3 contest between Zev, winner of the Kentucky j Derby, and Papyrus, winner of the Epsom l Derby, was assured the moment the match was made. It appears tiot only to the imagination of- the people, but it quickens the pulse of every lover of high-class sport in America. Major August Belmont and his associates of the New York Jockey Club deserve all praise, not only for conceiving such a battle royal, but for bringing off a match race at once so hazardous and so expensive. Apart from the fact that the American con- tender, Zev, was bred in this state, and is winner of the Kentucky Derby, the Kentucky Jockey Club has this special interest ; he is entered in the Latonia Championship, one and three-quarters miles, to be run November 3, and Admiral Graysons My Own is also eligible and. however, the International race may result, the champion three-year-old of America will be crowned at Latonia."
