Undefeated Sarazen Retired for the Year ; , 1 SARAZEN. Sarazen has been retired for the year. This sensational two-year-old goes into winter quarters undefeated and with a strong claim on the juvenile championship of the year. There are none in the East, though St. James and Diogenes won more money than Sarazen, to dispute his claim. In the "West Wise Counsellor is his only serious rival, and only a meeting of this crack pair would settle to the satisfaction of all just which one is entitled to the crown. That is now impossible with Sarazen in retirement, and it may remain for the 1 Kentucky Derby of next year to decide the question. Sarazen has been a wonder in his short and brilliant career. From a modest beginning, at Hawthorne in July Sarazen has won each and every one of the ten races in which he has started. All his victories were achieved in the same easy and impressive fashion that marked his initial appearance under colors. His speed is marvelous. None have heen able to keep stride with the smashing son of High Time, which, like Man 6 "War, simply races his opponents to exhaustion without even being extended.
