PLAID, hard ridden and saving ground on the first turn, drew away from her opponents after going three-eighths and won in a canter. SALMON, close up in the early racing, tired in the last eighth. ALTISSIMO was a forward contender all the way and finished gamely. NORTH BREEZE, away well, raced prominently throughout. The others were always beaten. BRUMMEL closed up gamely in the stretch into second place, but tired in the last strides. BOGART was prominent throughout. ELIZABETH BEAN set a good pace to the last eighth and was not persevered with wheu she tired. HARD GUESS showed speed, but quit after going a half mile. UNCLE SAND improved his position rapidly in the last quarter and was going fast at the finish. FEODOR tired. FINALITY ran well to the stretch and quit. KING ALBERT was hard ridden "and raced forwardly for the entire race, but tired in the final sixteenth. CAPTAIN COSTIGAN showed a high flight of speed in pacemaking, but ran wide on all the turns losing ground, came fast in the stretch and would have been second in another stride. JEWELL V. D. was forced wide on the stretch turn and raced wide. - BILLY WATTS, outpaced in the early running, finished fast. EXCUSE ME ran out on the second turn and was cased up. OLD TIMER set tJic early pace and was taken back under slight restraint for three-quarters, then moved up steadily on the outside -when called on and passed MOCK ORANGE into the lead, but tired in the stretch and just lasted long enough to withstand SIR LEONIDS challenge. The latter improved his position rapidly in the last three-eighths and would have won in a few more strides. SOUTII BREEZE raced next to the rail all the way and had no mishaps.
