TO WINTER AT THE DOWNS J. S. Ward Decides to Retire Wise Counsellor and Mates After Saturdays Races. LOUISVILE, Ky., Nov. 13 John S. Ward of Louisville, owner of the Western champion two-year-old Wise Counsellor, has decided not to race any of his horses during the Winter. Instead he will go into winter quarters at Churchill Downs. He will start Wise Counsellor in the rich Kentucky Jockey Ciub Stakes Saturday and then retire him for the year. Mr. Ward is confident that the crack colt will win Saturdays stake, regardless of what Eastern candidates are sent against him. Worthmore, another of the Western high-class juveniles of the year, which was secured at the C. T. Worthington dispersal sale at Latonia is also a valuable member of the Ward establishment. Both of these colts will be candidates for the Kentucky Derby and they will be among the Winter favorites for the big race.
