BED WELLS GREAT TRIUMPH The triumph of H. G. Bedwells career as a trainer of thoroughbreds came in the year 1917, when, with a large stable, of which the four-year-old Sir Edgar and Manokin were little above the average selling plater class, he drove them relentlessly and in the closing hours of the year Avon a purse at Havana that enabled him to pass the leader, R. T. Wilson, and head the list of Avinning owners. This result he achieved through the agency of the enormous total of fifty-two horses raced in his colors. The total of the Bed-Avell stable Avas 13C Ains, 210 places and 1,100 in money Avon.
