OMAHA, Neb., June 3.— A brand of weather that could not be improved on coupled with the fact that it was ladies day at Ak-Sar-Ben Field was the maknet that drew to the local course an attendance that in numbers resembled that of a Saturday or a holiday. The card wa sa vast improvement over that of yesterday with the Council Bluffs Purse, a dash of three-quarters, being the feature offering. It resulted in a spirited finish, in which I.ady Gorham, the paeemak-t er. skillfully ridden by jockey F. Weiner, lasted long enough to win by the narrow margin of a neck from the veteran sprinter Korbly, with Go Foin, recently claimed by the Jones Stock Farm for ST, 500 in Maori land, being but a scant half length away. I.ady Gorham in winning the Council Bluffs Purse established a new track record for three-quarters, running the distance in 1:11% to shatter the former mark of 1:12. Jockey B. Maskrfie had a narrow escape from serious injury when his mount, Vivian Oiiell, starting in the initial race, crasned against the inside rail turning for home, throwing the rider with much force into the intcld.
