JOCKEY PARKE UNDER KNIFE Star Rider Operated On for Appendicitis After Being Taken 111 at Latonia Track. CINCINNATI, Ohio, June 3.— Jockey Ivan Parke, peer of jockeys on the western turf, underwent what was regarded by Dr. J. B. Miller of the Good Samaritan Hospital late Tuesday a successful operation for a sudden attack of appendicitis. Parke was rush°d from the Latonia course after dismounting from Comixa in the fourth race. The lad began to complain of terrible pains and he was rushed to the Cincinnati institution. It was said that the stricken jockey was on the operating table for some time. Dr. Miller advised an immediate operation. Parke, who was the riding sensation in Kentucky last fall and leader in winning mounts for 1*23 and later leading rider of the winter season at New Orleans, is still in his teens and a resident of Delco, Idaho. He is under contract to Harry Payne Whitney.
